Farm Wise

On Tuesday our Key Stage 2 children travelled to Westpoint to visit the Farmwise exhibition.  The children spent the day learning about arable farming, dairy farming, poultry farming, our environment, wildlife, conservation and recycling.  The children especially enjoyed cuddling the new chicks and seeing the piglets.  They were also fascinated by the bees and honey production and learning how to shear sheep!

They learnt how it takes a square metre of wheat to make two loaves of bread and that wheat is the biggest crop grown in the UK, followed by oats and barley and how the ‘Red Tractor Certified Standards’ was introduced to cover the entire food production process.
